Question:  Is there a set schedule for TABE testing and orientation across the county for all GED programs or do they differ from site to site?  
Answer:  No, TABE testing times and dates vary by site.

Question:  What is the difference between ABE and GED?
Answer:  ABE is for students who scored below a 9.0 on the TABE test.  If the student scored above a 9.0 they would be in the GED classes.

Question: What is the difference between GED and Underage GED?
Answer:  Underage GED is for 16 and 17 years and required 225 hours of instruction and obtaining at least a 500 on each of the 5 subject area practices tests.  This has to be performed prior to applying for the waiver to take the GED test.

Question:  Do 18 year olds have to attend an orientation, or does that only apply to the underage program?
Answer:  That only applies to the underage program.

Question:  Should the administrators always be the 1st point of contact for satellite GED sites in their area or should the satellite site be the 1st call to get enrolled?
Answer:  To get enrolled the administrator should be the first point of contact.

Question:  Are bus passes provided for students enrolled in GED programs?
Answer:  No, bus passes are not provided, however some sites have grants that can be used to assist with bus passes, on a case by case basis.

Question:  What is Online GED?
Answer:  The Online GED course is provided by the Hillsborough County Public schools and is designed to prepare students to pass the GED Exam. It contains material similar to that presented in a traditional GED classroom, but taught by an instructor by way of a password-protected program, online, via the Internet. Students work at their own pace and at times convenient to them.

Question:  How do students enroll in Online CREDIT classes?
Answer:  Students may enroll at any of the 9 Adult Education Sites (Refer to School/Site Left Button).  Following registration, the student will receive a User I.D. and password from the instructor that will enable them to enter the course/courses they need.

Question:  Are there any fees connected with Adult Education?
Answer:  Yes,TABE and/or CASAS test fees for the first time is $5.00 each.

Adult Education class fees are $45.00 per block for Florida Residents:
                First block from July 1,2011 to January 13,2012
                Second block from January 14,2012 to June 30, 2012
        
Adult Education class fees are $180.00 per block for Non-Florida Residents:
                First block from July 1,2011 to January 13,2012
